If you’re trying to access YouTube right now and running into problems, you’re not alone, as a widespread outage appears to be affecting YouTube and, to a lesser extent, YouTube TV.

Starting at around 7:45pm ET (4:45pm PT) and expanding rapidly as of 8pm ET (5pm PT), YouTube is down in a fairly widespread outage. There are nearly 300,000 reports on DownDetector and growing, with a large spike for both Google and YouTube TV on the outage tracker as well – as far as we can tell, though, this is primarily a core YouTube outage.

The outage is being widely reported across social media, as well as members of the 9to5 team. In testing, we’ve been unable to access core features of YouTube including the subscription feed, Shorts, and even the homepage both through the mobile app and the web app. YouTube TV remains accessible in our tests, and YouTube Music seems to be working as well.

Notably, this doesn’t appear to be affecting YouTube videos accessed through direct links or embeds, at least through the web.

As of 8:20pm ET (5:20pm PT), Google has yet to formally acknowledge the outage.

Update: YouTube services appear to be partially resolved at this point, with Google having confirmed the outage in a forum post.
